
| 1. | Read aloud to your child. Don't be afraid to talk about the book's words -- how they sound, what they mean.* |
| 2. | Share poetry, songs, and storybooks with rhymes. Play with words and stress sounds in them. |
| 3. | Encourage writing at home. Grocery lists, greeting cards, signs, and labels are all good projects for developing writers -- even if you can't always read their spelling. |
